Affiliate Schemes, do they really work?
Ok, so I haven’t written much on here lately, I have been way too busy. I still monitor the traffic quite often and although it’s not a brilliant blog, and the content is out of date, I still get a steady stream of traffic, thanks to google.
So what’s this new post all about?
Well inspired by this spam comment http://www.djcnet.co.uk/mythtv-how-to-build-your-own-pvr.html#comment-213 and because of this steady stream of traffic, I wanted to test out some affiliate programs. Internet marketing is new ground for me, sure I have played with google adwords, and the banner network of simply.com, but I hardley get a whisker from them, so I wanted to see how well other affiliate programs performed.
I don’t want to post lots of adverts and banners, so below are 2 affilate links, of free programs that I have joined. All I ask is that you join the free program too, by using the links below. That’s it, simple! Just join the free program, you don’t have to pay for any “how to get rich quick” books etc, although the options are there, but I wouldn’t recommend them really, unless you are really really inquisitive!

After a couple of months I will post my results, also please leave comments of affiliate programs you have used that work, I am intriguied by the whole process.
So that’s it for now, not really a “howto” article or any hints and tips, just a little experiement of self indulgence.

This test failed miserably. Probably due to the fact that I don’t get enough traffic. However, if you have noticed the banners flying around the site, I am also trying out Amazon’s affiliate scheme, but haven’t had much luck with that either.

I discovered this site via Msn searching for some good affiliate marketing tips. This page provides it, thanks!

Affiliate deals work only for the company being advertised. If you are a website that runs paid for advertising, stay clear of them. The company tries to make you understand that you get paid a small percentage of their sales that your site generates. They sell it to you as a win win situation. This might seem fair but in actual fact most companies affiliates schemes are majorly flawed in that they cannot track all of the traffic that you generate for them.
If you were to see a deal on your work PC, and then buy the product later when you get home, then the company that initially advertised to you gets nothing.
So affiliate deals – Go for it if you are selling a product, but steer well clear if you are in the position where somebody is trying to get you to advertise them for free, as this is pretty much what you will end up doing.

Most affiliate marketers who are having success these days are promoting Cost Per Action, or CPA offers. This is because marketers don’t need to close high cost sales in order to get credited for a conversion.
